submitting an estimate for painting
I was asked to bid on a fairly large project and I was wondering what my estimate should look like.I am just a small painting company(3 employees) and up until now I have been doing about 70% repaints/30% new homes. This would be my biggest project yet although I think I will be alright as I am bidding on priming only. The building is 190,000 sq ft and I have the total sq ft of paintable surface.I am still working on a sq ft price so I have two questions.First, what would you guys bid per sq ft?This is priming of walls only,(t-bar)no ceilings and I have to supply primer.I know this depends on location, how bad I want work, etc.I'm just curious what everyone else would bid.
Second, what should my estimate look like?I checked out "give a form, take a form" but I never noticed anything this specific.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Can help with forms only
I can make the forms for you with ease. Would you like an Estimate sheet, a Bid Form, or in the form of a Proposal?

Realpurty2, I'd be interested in what you got, document wise.
I'll post one of my contracts and a proposal on the file swap forum.

I've tried to upload it here and in the Take a form Thread, but both places, it's over the file size limit even zipped. 256kb in Word format. Any suggestions how to get it to you?
Also, ProWall Guy, I have almost every form you could imagine and if I don't have it, I'll gladly draft anything any of you guys need.

Send whatever you got to me in a zip file. I'll find a way to post it or host it.
I'd also appreciate seeing any form you use. I kinda collect stuff like that, and sometimes I see something I like, and incorporate it into mine.
I also saw I already put a copy of my contract on the Take a Form thread; I'll add a proposal too.

Got it
I had to remove our logo image in order to get it down small enough to post.
Here it is for fast reference and I'll post others on the Forms thread.

This thread is interesting. I dont see allot of requirements from our contractors on the forms.
JustaFramers {post} was informative. Check his forms out.

What do you mean by requirements? I know as primarily a residential w/c and repaint contractor, my documents aren't very detailed, no reason for it that I can see. I'm sure other, bigger contractors dealing with alot of subs and $$$ would need more stipulations.

The Request for Bids we typically deal with usually include their own required forms describing the project terms and conditions, and we only are asked to fill in the blanks. We use in house documents like above if no specific documentation is required on a project. We utilize a seperate sheets of all of the "legals" that get attached to the front page I posted here, along with a sheet for signatures, notarizing etc. Once completed, I prefer to bind them in a clear folder before submission. This way the client gets a nice neat package with details of company information, project specifics, cost breakdowns etc, hopefully everything they need in one location. A typical "bid pack" for us is usually 7-10 pages. The same process goes for proposal packets, usually 3-5 pages in length, and used for projects of a larger scale but not requiring true bids. Estimates, only used for small projects on the other hand are usually single pages with only a basic overview of project specifics for quick reference.
The forms I create for the Electrical division are completely different than those for the GC side as well.
Everyone does things differently but this is just the structure we chose to use. As I've said before, we have way too many files to post but if anyone needs something specific, I'm a click or two away.

Here are two more options
Here is an actual estimate form to consider and also one that is used for your own personal documentation of each job to verify accuracy.
