Smart To Expand In These Directions?

As you know, my core business is landscape design build. I seem to have found a niche building 100k+ master plans. I really enjoy the larger jobs. The jobs normally consist of many different parts such as masonry, fence, excavation, pavers, decks, etc.

I started in this biz 3 years ago just doing pavers and retaining walls and now I build these projects consisting of all these other parts. However, I never do or seek out a job where we just build a fence, repair a stoop or build a set of pillars.

Do you think it would be a smart or bad decision to start to doing independent masonry, fence, and excavation jobs? Part of me thinks its a good idea because then my pavers guy will never have to install fence and so on. And it really allows me to expand my business.

But on the other hand, I think i am going to loose to much focus on my core business which I seem to be getting the hang off.

I really think I should just stick with what I am doing now. What do you guys think?

I'd say you know the answer to your question already.

If you suspect it, it's probably that little voice telling you and you should probably listen to it. Maybe give yourself some more time, you'll know when you're ready to do it.
