Quick Pricing Question....seriously

I am trying to find the approximate rate of renting a Genie 1930 scissor lift in the NJ area.

It's a 30" wide, 19' platform height scissor lift.

looking for the estimated monthly rate. Trying to find it tonight...not wait till tomorrow to call United.

Anyone got an idea?

thanks

I rented the next size smaller than that from United about a year ago at $500.00 for a month, if that helps you at all.

it does...

long story short...doing a TI for a customer of ours...they have a GC who've they have never used before. We give them a price with the fact that there will be a scissor lift on site available.

after we give the price, we are told that the GC (i use the term lightly) is asking that all the trades chip in for the lift rental at $25/day. We would need a flat bed to get one of our lifts in there (loading dock only) and that would cost $150+...so no problem.

Get a call from the GC (can't say that without laughing) today looking for a check for $350 to cover our use of the scissor lift...Haven't told him to F Off yet, will wait till monday...just to piss him off...

don't ask details...i don't have them. but we do a bunch of work for this customer, so the money will come from them anyway...it's just the principal...and I think this GC is screwing the customer in the deal.

Hertz Equip lists the 26 foot Genie at $900/mo for Newark, NJ.

www.hertzequip.com

The same one is $720/mo here.

Re: Quick Pricing Question....seriously

Why would you possibly want to "chip in" for a shared lift? What happens when you get there, and one of the other subs is on it for the next three days? What happens when the lift breaks? Who's covering the insurance on the lift? Sounds like a screwy situation at best, which seems to tie in with your assessment of the "GC".

Smile and learn. He's showing us how to make a profit from his subs, beyond his markup.

Yup GC is smart, he realizes, he has to mark up shared equipment, to cover the time spent dealing with cheap EC's.

i'm not his sub...he's nothing to me, other than the guy who still hasn't put up the ceiling grid in the office area so I can install my lights.

if I was working for him, it would be a different story.

Is that $25 from EACH trade whether or not you use the lift?
