Profit Margins And Overhead

Hi All,

I work for a general contractor and lately we have been getting stumped on the proper way to factor in overhead on jobs that we are doing. I think that this problem stems from doing a huge variety of jobs ranging from a 1 hour paint touch up to 300K remodel or a 1M new construction project.

Any ideas or insight on what you have used and works would be great.

Also just a rough profit margin would be nice as well. Sometimes I wonder if on some jobs I am not getting what I should be.

If you need any more information please ask.

Thanks!

MS

Quick answer:
There is a sticky on pricing & estimating I think in the business section with a ton of good advice
Look up Stone's Markup & Profit Book
Pull a search on markup - there are also a ton of threads on here related to it

Best of luck
