Potential Work Comp Claim

The ink hasn't even dried on the new guys' W4 and he calls this morning saying he needs to see his Dr. (back problem)He goes on by saying his problem is probably from not working for 4 months. He worked with me all day yesterday and even rode with me in my truck back to our main jobsite to get his truck. Not 1 mention on the ride over about his back.

Do you guys have any thoughts or 1st hand insight on how I should handle this? Edit: I called my carrier and she said to contact him which I have tried to no avail. He said he was coming in after the Dr but never called or showed up.

Thanks!
DnD

Maybe the guy can't handle the work and is too embarrassed to admit it.

Tx elect, What service do you use for these b-ground checks? I've never had one done but I def see the benefits. I'm fairly new to the employee game.

Re: Potential Work Comp Claim

I use ADP for background checks and payroll service. Have been pleased with them. Your insurance co. should also be able to provide you with the release forms in order for them to see if/ how many worker's comp claims have been made.

ADP also checks criminal background, and driving record. The plan I'm on allows me up to 10 people per month for 480.00 per year.
