Lowes Back Ground Checks
Lowes has asked us to provide a siding and window install crew but only one out three has passed the back ground check. Choice Point does the check and Lowes makes the determindation to employ. Is there any way arround this ? One employee has a defered possion from 2001 and both had a soc sec # issue that was taken care of today.
Thanks Bill |

Re: Lowes Back Ground Checks
With choice point you have two options pass or fail. If you fail they will generally tell you why you failed if it is something that you can correct. Correct the issues, call them and they will redo that part of the background. I use them for my background checks (even on myself) and I failed this past year. I got a think back saying that I do not have a drivers license. It took an hour to figure out that MA changed my DL# from my SSN to a new number and I did not give choice point the new number. A couple years ago I used them to run 9 backgrounds at once, they actually called to say that al 9 went through clean and with contractors they don't see that much.
Good luck with ***XX, I rented my soul to them for 6 years. It's an easy way to make a bunch of money without ever getting rich---or in some cases turning a profit. |

Re: Lowes Back Ground Checks
Friend who applied to Lowes for contractor work had a background check done by ChoicePoint. Lowes rejected the contractor and said "call choicepoint", which my friend did. 3 months later, ChoicePoint still has not sent out his requested report, and they won't answer inquiries.

Re: Lowes Back Ground Checks
Your employeed by Lowe's????
If your a company that provides a service inside someones home, you have to have a back ground check on any perspective employee. It is law here. They are your employees, not Lowe's. They can do a background check on you, since your subcontracting(you have the contract, not your employees)they cannot ask for one on your employees, as that is part of your business to have that done, to determine your hires. Your entire company, are employees of Lowe's, how did they come up with that, and who is dumb enough to fall for that scam?

Re: Lowes Back Ground Checks
Every one of my guys seems to have something wrong on the background check. The guys under 28 have soc sec # issues which have been cleared up yesterday by the soc sec dept. There was no issue. Is Choice Point just making stuff up?

Lowe's has no business in your business. Way too much control over your business. When Lowe's hires your company, they cannot tell you, another company, who and who cannot work on the contracted work. Do a search and look into Business Laws.

Re: Lowes Back Ground Checks
Avoid Lowes and HD install services at all costs. It is worse than taking on an unfriendly partner!

Re: Lowes Back Ground Checks
Our company came on with lowes as there first installation company, we grew to 31 installers two schedulers, one receptionist a full time bill/accounting person to chase our money, and three measurement guys. With a company over head just to run the work for lowes of 98,000. Just for office help at the end of the year it cost us over 300,000 to opperate the account. We never got rich didn't see our kids for three years. Worked from 5 am til the stores closed even on sunday. When the day came that we wanted to reduce the hours and spend the weekends with our familes, lowes cut us almost that week. Within three months we lost the office i had to let everyone go, and we had to hire a lawyer to go after them the recover not even one third of what they owed us. Get this the contract calls that we only need to warrenty our installs for one year. Three years after quiting and doing the last install lowes came back to charge my insurance company for services three years after the fact. And the services were for the product not the installation. My advise .... Run run fast. To this day we are still trying to recover and we still owed suppliers for materials purchased for them on our accounts.
