Job Tracking Software

Anybody using specific software?

How about web based? I'm a little leery about that for a number of reasons.

Price counts too. I've seen some for $10-14K, I'm not D.R. Horton or Centex.

Re: Job Tracking Software

Depends on what you're trying to track. How about some more details?

Re: Job Tracking Software

Most of the builders I know use MS project or Primevera. These don't work for me since I am not on jobs for months. I guess I am what you could call a service contractor and my crews are usually only in a spot for a a day or three.

I have been looking at scheduling software for my business and have so far found nothing that beats a dry-erase board. I'd love to have something online which I could use, but also output to my website so customers could see when they are scheduled.

Re: Job Tracking Software

Are you looking for Job Costing, Scheduling, or Project Management?
Such as .. accounting, contracts, change orders, deliveries, etc or just want to see what the current project status is (making or losing)?

Re: Job Tracking Software

I'm looking for an independent program to be run on a secondary system that is dedicated to tracking.

All that I need is the ability to track long range jobs, 2 yrs., tops. Avg. is about 9 mos.

Re: Job Tracking Software

What are you trying to "track"? Are you talking about schedules? payments? shop drawings? changes? customer leads/sales? job costs?

I'm confused.

The most inexpensive softare that will do everything you need is A.C.T. This will track sales, customer information and production and is easily manipulated. The best thing to do is sign up for the four hour class after you buy the product.

Re: Job Tracking Software

I've used ACT and found it rather clunky. Check the directory here on ContractorTalk - there's some targeted applications out there.

Re: Job Tracking Software

We use Heavy Job by HCSS it tracks weather, ground conditions, meetings, inspections, lots of notes, attach pictures and documents. Then track labor, equipment, materials subs by tasks.
It is mainly used by heavy highway, Industrial and Commercial contractors but the Field version can be used by itself and it does alot. Field is not expensive and you get the same program used by huge companies. It also comes with a palm pocket version to take into the field. It is a complete job documentation piece. We are a small company.

hcss.com

Their support is excellent and live people 24 hours a day every day! Every day!
