Re: Investors....

The only "investors" you're likely to find for a startup plumbing service company are in the "3F" category- friends, family or fools. Without a track record behind you, no investor in his right mind is going to invest in such a company, unless you've got some absolutely amazing, revolutionary way of running your company, generating business, or somehow setting yourself apart from the 9,000,000 other plumbing service companies out there.

Sorry to be so blunt and burst your bubble, but that's reality.

Re: Investors....

Just so you know Bob's not an A-hole, I second what he said. That's the straight up truth. The sooner your bubble gets burst then the sooner you can find viable funds.

You may think you're offering the investor real incentive, a real good roi, but for that sort of thing you need atleast a few years of verifiable track record.

Finley's original question is? ..."What to do with an EXTRA $100K in your pocket/profits"? ..Well, I think he already spent time pondering in that "3F" category" already... but now carefully excluding contractors' fools?

Re: Investors....

To be serious, I wouldn't even think of looking for an investor in a new business.

Take the size jobs that you can handle, get deposits and make arrangements as needed for your draws. There will be bumps in the road as anyone here can tell you and at least for a year or two.

If you found a guy to put up the cash for things you want, he will always own you, or at least a piece of you. It kinda takes the fun out of being "self employed" and you might just as well be working for someone. Keep the investors out and when you find success, it will belong to you and only you.
