Inter-trade Referal Service?

Some years ago I was visiting Nashville and I ran across this organization of tradespeople. It worked something like this, if I was out putting in a kitchen and plumbing needed to be done I'd refer the HO to a plumber in the organization, the plumber would pay and i'd receive a small fee if lead worked out. The organization was owned/operated by the trades, non-profit except for operating expenses. They were selective in who they let in and ran a pretty tight ship it appeared. Never have seen a service like it since, or maybe I just havent looked hard enough. Anybody had any experience with such?

Re: Inter-trade Referal Service?

I do not go thru an organization, nor do I receive a fee, but I will recomend another tradesman if I know their work to be up to the same standards as mine. If you refer a customer to another person, and they perform shoddy work or treat the customer in an unprofessional manner, their actions will reflect on you.

It is also important to remember that just because someone (or a company) may be good at one thing, like new construction, that does not always mean they would be good at working on a remodel, or service work.
