Insurance Company Lead

I am setting up a new construction company. I need to get Builder's Risk and GL insurance. I have called a couple of local agents and they are saying this is difficult to get. The only one I can find is an Agent that can get me insurance from Continental Western. Problem I see is the agent states I have to join the HBA to get it. He just happens to be on the local HBA board. I don't like to conflict of interest and was wondering what insurance companies before I go back and deal with him.

Any leads?

Thanks

Additional info - This is for residential homes, 4-6 homes per year in the midwest acting as the general contractor that subs out the work.

My advice would be to see what the rate is from him and add that to the HBA dues, then keep looking around, you might find his rates even with the HBA dues come out to be competitive, and you've got the bonus of belonging to the local HBA at the same time.

It is only a conflict of interest if it is not in your interest. The HBA is probably working group rates, and the HBA is a good thing to belong to, anyway.
