Industry Wide Wage Averages....

Remodel Magazine makes a few statistical statements in it's MarketWatch column for it's May 08 issue. I always wonder if these types of statements have any basis in reality so I thought I'd post them for feedback:

$28,066- Median* annual compensation (base salary plus bonus) for a senior construction laborer

$47,235- Median* annual compensation (base salary plus bonus) for a lead carpenter or equivalent

Source: salary.com/Parade magazine

* Reminder: median is "in/of the middle" rather than the average, I only mention this because I always forget

I personaly thought the number for a lead carpenter sounded low. Around here you would pay any skilled carpenter capable of running jobs that much w/o them having all the responsibilities of a "lead" as defined by most of the official lead carpenter systems.
