Usually by this time a newbie

hamburger meat with such a

It's his apparent willingness to get legit that has saved him from the flamethrower.
For now.

He's got to start somewhere.

I'd rather have another licensed legal contractor in the world to compete with than a jackleg any day.
Our ranks should swell with the legitimate, not be depleted by the hacks.

No worries, CT has become a target rich environment lately. Another head will pop up before you know it. Right now this one is in the prisoner detention area, and has been temporarily spared the torture.

Nope he came back in after being flamed and then proceeded to flame us.
Newbie passed the test. I'll help him.

Re: Im New To This

JW, once the bleeding stops ater getting beat up here, , read between the threads. There is still some decent advice being given.

My suggestion is to take a week and read EVERY thread and every post in the business, general discussions, marketing, and the one for your specific trade. Take notes, on paper, and when you are done, organize those notes and re-read them. Write down questions you have that were NOT answered and seek answers to those questions. (not all at one time, mind you). At that point, you will have picked up quite a bit of information that will be useful to you and you will get an idea of the flavor of the forum. . Ok, sometimes, anytime, always before midnight.

Once you have done all that and you still have a question, it most likely will not be as broad a question and you will garner more respect for doing your homework.

Don't be a drive-by poster. As Walt said in Gran Torino, learn how to talk man to man. Sit on the porch and stay with us for a while.

Re: Im New To This

Good info about the post reading. If you take the time, maybe 2 hours a day for a week you will get a really good idea of how to run a business. Start in business discussion, then file swap, then technology, sales , etc. Obviously you can breeze through the trade forums after 12 years. The other info here is Priceless. If you find time, read the 172 page manual that PCPplumber posted on here somewhere!

Yeah, and just like Walt, we might actually take the rifle away from your forehead after a few more beers!
