How Are You Down In Charlotte NC?

Hello,

Anyone here down in Charlotte, NC?

We lived there for a while (from New England) but left. We've missed it quite a bit to be honest.

There's a bit of a slowdown in case nobody noticed. And my fear is the northeast is going to come back slower than perhaps other parts of the country (such as the south eastern US).

And man it's cold up here! (although my sister in Charlotte said it's cold there too...but she thinks it's cold when it's 50).

So, would anyone from the Charlotte region care to share what the home improvement market is like down there? I specialize in high-end custom storage but just curious if their world has stopped with all the banking issues (and Charlotte being the home of the Big Banks).

Thanks for any feedback.

Greg

Dead 2.5 hours North of Charlotte (Burlington). Every day is a new day though, and that's hard to argue with.

It's pretty slow. All the bad publicity the Banks have gotten seems to have people afraid to spend any money. The real estate market is also slower than it's been in many years which is also affecting the repair business.

It's the worst I've ever seen it. The early 90's were worse from what I hear, however.

It's almost totally dead here but it's showing signs of increased construction activity within the last month.

I have people and companies begging me for work. I've had building suppliers begging for me to use them. They're so desperate that they go ballistic when I tell them they didn't get the order this time.

Wow I was hoping that wasn't the case.

I hear it's below freezing down there this week too.

Wow...it's sounding more and more like the northeast already.

We're heading down for thanksgiving (my sister lives there) so I at least hope it warms up a bit for us :-)

Lots. Setting up citizen panels to study the crime problem. Private citizens patrolling. Some with guns. The liberal newpaper editor crapping her pants over the very idea of someone exercising their 2nd amendment rights.

I heard that there's a bunch of these really scary midgets that go around with pitchforks, terrorizing the countryside.

But then I read later that it was just a filming of a new Capitall One commercial
