How Late Is Best?

While the question of how early a remodeling project should start offers a narrow range of possibilities, the answer to the question about how late it should end seems to be a lot more unclear. If you start at 8:00 AM, ending at 4:30 PM with a ½ hour for lunch gives you an 8 hour day. It also ends the day before most people start making dinner, perhaps even before most people get back from work.

What if your customers don’t care how late you work? What is the latest time you find you’re able to end work without upsetting the neighbors? If no neighbor is ever expected to complain if work begins after 8:00 AM, what time should work end to ensure no neighbor ever could be expected to complain?

4:30 PM?

5:00 PM?

5:30 PM?

6:00 PM?

7:00 PM?

I checked the 5pm but really in todays workingclass it is impossible to please everybody. On one side of a new home under construction you have 1st shifter family when on the other you have 3rd. We completed a big remodel job this past Feb. and during the 3 months of work at the home the owner himself changed shifts on a bi-weekly basis.

Barring any unsual circumstances such as shift work or having the extra time being the difference between a tarp on the roof or a sheathed and tar papered roof. I would say 5:00. I don't think somebody wants to come home from work and try to eat supper with a bunch of workers and nail guns going off.
