How Do You Guys Manage Leads.
I have a bunch of papers in one folder and it gets a tad confusing. When I get no or were not interested at this time, I file in one folder.
When I get a yes it goes in a nilla folder and on a raque for jobs in progress. When its a maybe it goes on a shelf for follow up when I feel like following up. Its barely manageable now. What program do you guys use? How do you go about managing jobs in progress, leads, etc. As I get more leads my system is going to be difficult.

Re: How Do You Guys Manage Leads.
If you are a paper guy you can use files for each week of the year. For example if the customer says to call them back in March, you can place the info in March week #1. You will have to create a log so if the customer calls in a week you know where to find their stuff. We used this method for years and now use the computer.

Re: How Do You Guys Manage Leads.
we also use the paper system
just because we are mostly on a job or on the road when we recieve phone calls so the customers information is jotted down and an estimate scheduled We use folders to file the customers We have three sections: Open Estimates, Closed Estimates, Completed Jobs Open Estimates are those who had to "think about it", and are in pink folders and filed by month and days. They are called back to get the sale. Closed Estimates are that, they are scheduled appointments for jobs. Completed Jobs are happy customers. And we keep in touch with these people through our referral program You could get some computer software. I've seen some stuff advertised on this very site. Or you could do a search for "contact management software" Look for freeware or free trials to test drive the stuff

Re: How Do You Guys Manage Leads.
Currently it's a cluster F of papers and spreadsheets.
As the leads come in, I enter them into a spreadsheet/database. I give one copy to the estimator, in his in-box. I also keep one copy for myself. Then as they turn in the sales I have another spreadsheet to record the sale. I am really looking for a solution to manage all my leads, when it was just me it was easy. I am looking at www.salesforce.com and think I am going to sign up. Put everything into one central database acceopssible from any computer in the world. |

Re: How Do You Guys Manage Leads.
I am just starting out so as of now i can keep pretty much everything in my head but made up a simple sheet to track followups and so on that i keep on a clip board. I know that is no help to anybody, but my main reason for posting was a computer program called "Market Sharp"
The const. company i use to work for used it and my mom was in the office and she loves the program. It is expensive though. |

Re: How Do You Guys Manage Leads.
I have a nice month at a glance type calendar, everything gets written in there... "EVERYTHING"... It's soooooo simple, and right there. Used in conjunction with Quickbooks, it's a good system.
No pads, no files. The exception is when I go to do an estimate I write everything down in a pad in my binder, when the pad's full, I pull it out, file it, then replace with a new one... ......... Once upon a time, I used marker boards, magnet boards, file systems on my walls & desk, cork boards, binders for everything... Then it hit me, I'm making things wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy toooooooo complicated. My full time job became managing my leads, then I ran out of time to do the work, then the leads dropped down etc.... etc... I had buried myself in my work, it was horrible. Last edited by Danahy; 01-06-2007 at 05:26 PM. |

They call, I go and the paper goes into a flat file or a round one.
