How Do I Get Started???
Alright, I have the drive and I have the devotion and the skills to become a successful general contractor. But, within the process there are several things that weigh on my mind, such as; Where does the money come from for all the subs? Do you get front-money? Do you have access to an exclusive business account, set-up with the home-owner? Is the land usually already surveyed and ready for gradework before the GC gets there? Does the home-owner typically pass on a copy of the blueprints to the GC for estimating purposes before a bid is placed? There are more questions, I'm sure, that I would love to know the answer to, but these are the ones that come to mind at the moment. I'm new at this, as far as being a self-employed general contractor, and would love to hear any constructive criticism from anyone at all. Thank you.

Re: How Do I Get Started???
No offense, but you say you have the knowledge, and you are asking some pretty basic questions that a GC should already know...

Re: How Do I Get Started???
Yes, that was a little contradictive. Anyways, How am I supposed to know these things without ever having done my first job?

Re: How Do I Get Started???
No job should be too small.
My first jobs: Installing a doggy door, Hanging 1/2 piece of drywall to a small bathroom ceiling, Replacing one section of stockade fence. Keep motivated, and everything else will fall ino place. You will find that when these questions need to be answered, you will be able to do so. Hopefully. By the way, I would still take these jobs, just charge about 5 times as much.

Re: How Do I Get Started???
Find someone to take you under their wing so to speak. I have had a few good mentors help me along the way.
