Finding and Bidding government jobs

Is there a formal method of finding and bidding on government jobs? For example is there a particular place where contractors go to find out about upcoming government work and bid on them?

Not sure where you live but organizations like the SBDC and SCORE often have people to help you learn how to bid on government contracts who will meet with you one on one and bring you up to speed at no cost to you. Depending on state and industry sometimes the government has programs to help businesses learn how to bid on their contracts as well. The government likes competition on government work.

also check to see if you have a local housing authority. They usually have a remodeling program to repair and remodel older homes. Be prepared to wait 30-60 days for your invoices to be paid as well
