Fees For GC License.

Has anyone ever used their contractor license to partner with a remodeling business that needs a gc license? I don't have any idea of the average fee structure or rate percentage that would be fair to charge for providing this service. I am looking for a fair fee for providing my license to an established remodeling business. Any info is appreciated.

For you to partner with a remodeling business, you would need to qualify that company, you can appoint a Financial Responsible Officer, but the license holder (You) are responsible for all work done under your license.

If you are qualifying another company or are licensed as an individual, yao can not legally Pull a permit for the unlicensed entity, even if you are a partner, that would be considered aiding and abetting an unlicensed contractor.

As far as Fee's for qualifying them, that is up to you, how much is the liability exposure and how cheap are you willing to qualify a company for.

Can you afford the liability and the possible fines and loss of your license?

A friend of mine qualified a company, he did it based on a fixed fee for each job, then they started just doing jobs without a permit, so they could avoid paying him, then there was a problem, he got fined, almost lost his license and the company he qualified basically told him to pound sand, it took him a little while to yank his license from them and they still used his license number and even after they were no longer qualified, they still used his license number.

Moral of the story is be careful.

Are you allowed to qualify and partner with a company and still pull permits for your own business, or is a gc license only able to be used in conjunction with one business

If you want to maintain your license as an individual and qualify another company, you will have to go in front the the CILB.

I have heard you can qualify a total of 3 entities under 1 license, but I don't know anyone who has, seems to me it would possibly over extend you.
