Ever Use Zillow To Learn More About Your Customers?

It's really kind of against my thoughts on sticking to a system, putting your blinders on and just selling. But I have caught myself pulling up Zillow.com to get some insight into a potential customer.

How so? Did they do an owner evaluation of their property?

I like Zillow for price and comps. If a client uses it and puts in their own eval, that could be a bonus, as they have to make their own value estimates.

I've just used it to see if the customer is living in a $200,000 neighborhood or a $500,000 neighborhood. Just as a curiosity and to get an idea of what their expectations might be.

Oh yeah, for that it's great. You don't have to apologize for using all the tools at your disposal.

Re: Ever Use Zillow To Learn More About Your Customers?

I've used zillow.com ...and also searchbug.com ...my favorite is a gov't site which I have acess to....I can get all the details on a home (block/lot, last sold date/price, tax, owner's name etc.)
A not-so-intense site that anyone can access (although if your not doing work in NJ kind of pointless) is:

nj.com/news/bythenumbers/

(add the h t t p: / / w w w....post count is too low for a working link)

That site can be a wealth of information for NJ people (contractors or otherwise)

Not much.
Zillow only gives a "Z-stimate" on the value of the home ... and a map that is pretty good (not as good as google's or MS's local live)...that's about it.
