Does Anyone E-FILE Their Taxes?
I usually e-file my taxes before I started self-employment. Its fast and easy and still allows and helps you for extra returns and exemptions.
Now having the business and my full time job (W-2) I still wanna file my own with E-file but I am unsure of some things. First, Is e-filing or doing your own taxes a higher red flag for audits? (actually I dont care they can audit me and I will offer them more deductions). Second, I believe I can do my taxes legal and fully, but does having them done by accountant/tax preparer help you in any way by having them responsible for mistakes?(highly doubt that one). Finally, I will check my previous e-file sources and check their IRS forms for info on SE filing to see if I can do self/sample tests for owe/return. Does anyone know of any e-file websites or site for good info? I currently read alot on the IRS.gov WS. I have filed at HR blockos few times and ended up paying in the previous years. E-filed last 2 years and got $1800 back both times. SORRY but cant let some idiot file that doesnt care about me and my finances/taxes. I would rather do it myself until I form corp or get seriously busy and dont have time. Thanks everyone, |

Re: Does Anyone E-FILE Their Taxes?
I snail mail mine in all the time, it's my only source of enjoyment thinking about them flipping through, deciphering my hand writting, getting bored then throwing it through with the rest.
Of course no one wants to get audited, even if you are on the level its still carries enough stress that no one would want to deal with. I have found that every so often things are put out there, like online bank payments of different remittances and sorts, puts you into a computer generated auditor which is programmed to flag your for any little thing in the blink of an eye.... Where as someone reading it, can get a feel for an honest mistake, like on one line you had 1033.00 for an an item, then later you oopst, and put 1030.00, which they will just correct for you... my papers are always prepared electronically, then manually written and snail mailed. |

Re: Does Anyone E-FILE Their Taxes?
I have used TurboTax Premier Home and Business (online version)for the past few years. I am a sole prop and this goes through every question step by step and fills out the right schedules and forms for the sole prop. I have also gotten refunds the past few years, but that is probably from the deductions and the three kids!
