Can anyone recommend a good online site they use to perform criminal background checks on perspective employees?

Does the site require the search based on an SSN or require that you have permission to pull the check?

You must inform said employee and have them acknowledge the matter via a Signature! A Release/Permission form is a MUST!

I also suggest a DMV and Credit check. These two factors tell volumes about character!!!

I have been using ADP for background checks for about a year. They're a little more expensive than the online sites, but they send you the forms to make sure you are compliant with the laws, and then they do all the checks. Like Malco said do criminal, DMV and credit. It's a small price to pay for a little peace of mind.

My understanding is yes, if the information is a basis to deny employment. It gives the applicant an opportunity to correct any false information.
