Court Records.

I mentioned this on another thread but my state now has a site where you can search court records, on anybody, ( pretty far back ), on any court proceeding in my state. It will give you a brief description of the proceedings, the defendants, the plaintiffs, and the outcome. Costs 6 bucks.

I've been using this site for cheap background checks for a while for tenants.

The other day this guy brings me this "deal" which sounded pretty good. I paid my $6 and checked him out and found he was in both the left seat and the right seat of our courts way too many times.

Anyway if your state has this it might be a good way to check out your customers before you sign. Probably won't work if you have clients.

Here in Illinois all we have is an inmate search on the department of corrections website, however I don't really use it for background checks, I use it to keep up with family and friends.

Oklahoma has that system in place, and it is free, both civil and criminal, and it goes all the way 25 years. It is tricky to use, but since my wife is in law enforcement, she is always looking!
