Construction Clean Up Rate In Missouri

Hello all and thank you for letting me and my wife join the site. We have started our own construction cleaning company and have a few questions. We have been in the cleaning business for awhile but cleaning apt complexes and houses. We live in the southwest part of Missouri (Joplin Area) and have joined the Tri-States Contractors Group to be able to meet contractors. From the research I have found the going rate is $.08 per SQ FT. Is this correct? Does it depend on the size of the construction? Also does anyone know the best way to meet and get our name out there for contractors? Any help would be great. Also if there is any help I can give please let me know. Thanks everyone!!

Johnnie

Sounds LOW to me. $240 for a 3000sqft house should be double that @ least.

What ever you do be prepared to get underbid. You have to figure out what you want, there ain't no easy way, espeicially in this economy. If you are serious about this , then jump in with both feet! You will have to work for it it ain't gonna come to you.

Re: Construction Clean Up Rate In Missouri

You say clean-up @ .08 ft, is that per trip? An associate of mine does like 7-8 trips on the average new home and gets .70-.80. That includes a framing pu, a rough interior pu, drywall scrap, paint prep (after dw, before paint), carpet prep, and final. He gets extra for power washing the drive, garage floor. That's in KCMO area.

Re: Construction Clean Up Rate In Missouri

Thanks for all that has replied. Darren, I am not sure what a trip is. I will be mainly be doing cleanup in our area. I was going to stay in the final cleanup business but do you think that it is best to do all clean up or at least offer all clean up?

Mrcleanup,
I think you should offer to do any type of cleanup that is going to bring you enough work. If you get busy, you can cut back a little bit and maybe only do cleanup in places that aren't that dirty.

Re: Construction Clean Up Rate In Missouri

I guess would depend on your set up and how much you are willing to do. A trip would be the clean-up done after each phase. If it were production homes, they'd likely want clean-up done at each phase I described earlier (or more). Renovation work might only require a demo trip, a rough-in trip and final. Depends on the individual contractor's need.

Re: Construction Clean Up Rate In Missouri

First if you go into a new construction home that is 1200Sq Ft your telling me you are only going to bill $96.00? How long do you think it would take you to clean this 1200 Sq Ft home? Then what do they want you to do? Wash windows inside and out, clean bathrooms, vaccum everything, wipe out all cainets, mop floors, dust all walls and wash if needed, wipe down all trim and doors. Are you to putty nail holes in trim, are to touch up paint, Are you to make a list of things that are not done or need attention? And now with all that said how much are the supplies to do the job. Minus that from the 96.00 that 1200Sq Ft X .08 cents = 96.00.

I guess what I'm getting at is don't sell yourself short. If you have been cleaning for a while you have the system down so you can be cost affective. I do cleaning of new home construction. I have system down and it goes great and I can make good money because I'm fast.

Re: Construction Clean Up Rate In Missouri

for those who want to get in to the contractors before anyone else, advertise on the building permits. What i mean is.....go on your city website, and find all the new building permits. They will supply you with the Contractors name, and address, along with what the job is. and approx value. We do this for our drywall business, and we get about 70% of all our cold calls. My wife and I are starting the construction cleaning business as another part of our existing company. We have several contracts, and that is how we got them.

Hope that helps.
