This. And...if I send you a 1099 and you only claim your w-2 income, red flag. But...they still seem silly to me! I send them out, file them electronically with the IRS, and toss the ones I receive into the folder for the accountant.

I never have any W-2 income to worry about. All money I make gets deposited in my business checking. Only time ever had a problem was when the IRS messed up and that was easily fixed.

Yep, that's something I'm glad I started doing right away...every penny goes into the checking account and every expense gets a check or online payment out of the checking account. And I'm working with an accountant, I have a bad habit of missing filing deadlines for one of the 6,000,000 forms I regularly file

This is exactly why I want to see what THEY are sending in. I thought I made this clear in past posts but I guess not.

Shouldn't be a problem for you if they misrepresent it. As long as your records are good, they would be the ones on the hook. I don't even check the amounts on my 1099's vs my quickbooks. I know my numbers balance, so if there is an error, I am fine.
