Company Growing! In House Accountant Resources? Help!
Any help is greatly appreciated! I really need to get some resources together for the person we hire for this job.
I need a resource for our in house accountant that specializes in Insurance Restoration, or at least home remodeling. This person in essence is going to be our CFO and I need them to think more like a CFO and less like a book-keeper. I want them to be able to understand calculated risk that we have to take in marketing, how to calm the storm during bad months, and keep level headed when we have a huge money month, and feel like they are a part of our in office team and not a person on the sidelines. Some bullet points so you can understand more about our company: -Our company currently has 12 employees and has been growing at a steady pace over the last 2 years. -95% of our work comes from doing insurance rebuild after fire, floods, and wind damages. -In 2008 we saw about a 50% growth on our gross volume, and did close to $1.5 million in sales. We are about to hire an in house accountant to go from part to full time. -Our projected 2009 sales are at 2.3-3.1 million in sales because our referral base is growing tremendously. -Soon we are going to have a $70,000 line of credit, something that for 11 years our company has functioned without. -We are moving over from Peach Tree, to Quick Books Contractor Edition 2009. -We sometimes have a 90-120 day turnaround time before we are paid in full on jobs, because of there is insurance companies, mortgage companies, and homeowners involved. Thanks again for any help! |

Re: Company Growing! In House Accountant Resources? Help!
It is a good idea to provide your in house staff with a resource they can contact and for you to have approved that resource and know excatly when and why they are contacting them. You are smart to think that way. I provide these services to companies. I usually meet the companies when they are installing and implementing their software, then often, we develop a long term relationship where I am a resource, not a committment. My goal is to teach my contractors to be independent from me, but I'm always here for questions because there is always something different that will pop up occasionally.
Feel free to call if you'd like to talk. I'll be on-site with a contractor in Alabama early this week, but can return a call if you leave a message.
