Caught Off Guard.

Yesterday I did a follow up with with a G.C. convo statrted off fine ,I proceeded to ask how my bid looked to him. then BOOM he started to really scream at me . The reason was because I took advice from his own nephew who I build for (condos) and took 10% off original bid like he advised me to . Now his uncle didnt like that and to be honest neither did I , but work is a little slow here so I figured ok , Iturned the bid in he never called .So I follwed up yesterday and he said the only reason Ididnt get that job was because of the 10% off he replied that it was not good business to cut the throats of other subs and that it is sad that Ihave to resort to that on and on he went ranting at me calling his own nephew names and bad mothing him . So I retaliated and raised my voice back and look I am not the type of person to do that to other subs I just took some bad advice from his nephew. So after we calmed down he said for me to meet him to pick up another print and that I would get the job because my original price was great he said and because Istood my ground and defended my work and myself. Anything like this ever happen to anyone else ? needless to say when I hung up the phone Iwas like WTF just happened .

I think he does suffer from that mike I'm starting to see that quite a few do . But from an ex Boxers stand point I need to bring them down a bit thats why Icant turn away the business cause its the challenge and saying to them I am the best man for the JOB and staying there face to face till they realize it. Once I create the cut I just gotta open it then its closing time.$$$$$$$$$$$$$

i don't understand this ... but i'd bet my lunch that a large number of folks do this

Work gets slow
you knock of 10% of your final price

so now there's less work (to begin with) and less money. but you're gonna need more work to make up for that 10% that you needed in the first place.

so then you go find more work ... and knock that down 10% so you KNOW you can get it to pay Peter (or yourself, for that matter) from the job before

and then the next one

a vicious cycle

it's like everybody wants to work .... but nobody wants to make any money
