Business Coaching

Has anyone used Action Coach or another business coach? How did it impact your business? How much did it cost per month?

I am considering using one, we make money and are going to have a better year this year, but would like to do better and systemize the business for future growth.

Re: Business Coaching

I've have seriously considered coaching, and done considerable amount of research into it.

Unless you're running a business with millions in annual revenue, I think it is important that the coach you choose has industry experience. Your coach will have an understanding of what it takes to succeed in your business, and will have a template they can apply your situation. What I'm saying is, you'll get from point A to B faster. Once you've got a multi-million dollar business and you're no longer involved in day to day operations, then you can look at executive coaching programs.

I would also look at peer groups, you can learn a lot from others in the business. Start by looking at at programs offered by companies such as Remodelers Advantage, E myth Contractor, & Remodelers Turnkey Program. You can google many more. Figure out what your business needs. Find out what they offer. See if its a good fit. And don't forget to come back and tell us how it turned out.

Also remember that everybody has their own opinions about the right way to do things. Ask three coaches how to do something and there will be three different answers

Michael Stone was critical in me being able to survive as long as I have.

Worth every penny.

I may yet not make it, but without his counsel and experience, I woulda been toast awhile back.

In fact, the worst thing I ever did was not spend the extra money to have him come to my business for 3-4 days for "hands on" restructuring.

In hindsight, I think he would have told me to fire everyone I had on the spot. It would have literally saved me about $120k of cold hard cash plus about another $300k (my estimate of the "soft costs") of image problems, damage to reputation, lawsuits, etc.

I was too disconnected and shielded from the real problems in the field. My fault 100%. Sometimes you need a hard slap in the face.

Today, all those people are gone from my business anyway - either fired or they fled, usually with tools, materials and overpaid for the work they left that had to be redone.
