Re: Anyone A Lowes Or HD Installer?
Last time I checked you have to pay $50 just to turn in an application before they'll approve you.

Re: Anyone A Lowes Or HD Installer?
We worked millwork installs for 2 home depot stores here, i thought originally, "get paid to meet possible future customers" then when we started the process for expediting jobs from measure to install to getting paid it did'nt take long to figure out what a joke it was. Our home depot's had 4 people between HD and the customer, each person took a chunk of the pie...so when it came to installer getting paid, was'nt much left, esspecially since all the middle companies were doing is passing paperwork left to right and getting a percentage of it. It was good for me/us since i'm an anal detailed note/measure sheet keeper/checker and i became middle man and home depot staff's worst nightmare since i exposed and exploited ALL their phuck up's, which made them accountable to thousands in screwed up orders in product and trip charges...they did not like me LOL!!
It does'nt work like you think it will, and you definately dont want to get associated with the clients, they're the kind you would screen through your business and walk away from. The guy i know locally doing it now exploits HD's system, he sends his salesmen on a job he gets from HD, give them HD pricing for windows, and then gives them a number on a piece of paper with a "well, we could eliminate HD and do it for this price" so he's making dang good money....until he gets caught stealing sales....but that's the ultimate, HD gives him contact's, they pay him to measure the job, he sells the job for his company and walk away smelling like a rose LOL!!! |

Re: Anyone A Lowes Or HD Installer?
Experiences probably vary greatly depending on where you are and the people you work with. I have subbed for at home services (HD) over the last four years and been very happy with it.
Never worked for lowes, here they want to pay you $35 to go measure the job before the salesman goes out, and don't have a great amount of sales..seems like a waste of time to me. Working for hd through installed sales is good in my area. They do all the selling and ordering, we just load up and install with very little fuss. A few days later the pay is deposited into my account, no problems. They also go very lightly on the taking the good with the bad, and pay for anything bad or out of the ordinary. Whats really nice is they don't mind paying you extra to do extra work when needed, alot of companies will put you in a bind of either doing a crappy job or doing it better on your dime. The customers are better than average, afterall they could get product cheaper but are using hd because they feel hd will do a good job and be around for a very long time. Its also nice that the pm (fi now) has went over all the job details and told the customer what they need to do to be ready for us, basically we show up, meet the customer and are working about two minutes after we get to the job. There are alot of pluses and minuses to subbing in general, but if you are gunna sub at home services is a much better than average to sub from. Sounds like a HD commercial , but I have enjoyed my time working for them.
