American Express Plum Card

Amex is running ads for their new Plum card. If you pay your bill within 10 days they give you 2% back (over 5k a month). 2% adds up so I signed up, now I have 3 Amex cards........so far they have not offered me the "black card".

Any feedback on the plum card?

Re: American Express Plum Card

Those ads are showing through Google so I don't have any insight. If you can keep up and pay when you need to it sounds like it could work. Personally I wouldn't' trust myself. The way it is my wife has to pay all of our bills or they would all be late

I don't trust my wife. I remember one of the first times I sent her to the bank to do a deposit, 127k, I had to remind her after the suppliers are paid, payroll is covered, gov't get's their piece, we get about 2%

I'm one of those guys that has cards his spouse doesn't have access to.

We get 1% from discover at the moment. I have not heard of this "plum" card?
Do you have to watch t.v. to find out about it?

I guess I will get the wife/bookeeper to look into it

They had a Plum Card Google ad in the sidebar this morning, probably due to this thread.

First thing the wife/bookeeper asked......"whats the fee?"
Maybe there is another offer?

Based on $100,000 you would get $2000 back.....it might cover the $185. If someone is planning on getting back less than the annual fee then the card would be a foolish thing to have.

Copus, I do not watch network TV, the only ads I see are on-line.

Re: American Express Plum Card

I know a builder who finances his new homes with credit cards, literally. I thought it sounded ridiculous the first time I heard it, but after hearing how it worked, I can see how he does it easily....only problem, is if he gets caught with unsold property.

Re: American Express Plum Card

I applied for one. I usually put 500-600k a year on my credit card that should be a nice return with 2% back. Thought it was worth it

Re: American Express Plum Card

Applied for and got one of the AMEX Plum cards. I really see this as being a helpful solution to paying my vendors and trade contractors. Plus the added bonus of getting 2 percent back is a winner. It gives me a little more payment flexability if I need it. I think all around its a good deal.

Re: American Express Plum Card

I just picked up the Chase Visa card. It is suppose to do 3% cash back for supply houses, home improvement stores and gas. I have not received my first bill yet so we will see what I get.

Forget Discover. They offered me 5% back at "home improvement" stores. I charge up $5,000 on it then the next month they cancel the program.

Gas is not cheap, but any savings is a good one.

At the local Speedway gas stations, you can buy a "Gift Card" and you get 4% off on that purchase and then just use the gift card for your gasoline.

Today, I bought a $ 200.00 gift card and it only cost $ 192.00.

Ed

edit:
That link about credit cards I posted earlier always has some good offers for rebates or 0 % interest cards.

If you bought the gift card with the Plum Card you could get the extra 2% back............ saving you even more!

Watch out for max rebates/cash back with some of the card offers. I had one a few years ago that had a max annual cash back that was hidden in the small print.
