Alright, I'll Take Some Of The Gunfire Away From Mike

Incentives

here's my idea of an incentive (and I don't build houses - but I'm using this b/c I've gotten this idea from home builders)

$10,000 Cash Back for Finished Basement

Now, new homes here (at least in the market now) are going about 700-800K.

so we're talking somewhere around 1-2% off the gross. Doesn't matter; it's built in anyways

as cash back to go towards more products/services

I haven't heard of a $10,000 finished basement ... so obviously you're not getting a free basement --- you're just getting a credit that will go towards your basement

I could go on about how to incorporate this idea into your business or mine --- but this is the principal idea (above)

Re: Alright, I'll Take Some Of The Gunfire Away From Mike

Ok I'll bite. As a customer I still don't like the idea of getting cash back for a job I hire you to do. We all know nothing is free and you admit the price is built in. We are building a house now that was budgeted at 375,000.00 with a straight up builder. The way I see it, for you to build my house, you would have to charge me 385,000.00 with the 10,000.00 coming back to me at the end. Am I understanding this right? So we get near the end of the build and now wifey says, oh, we are getting back 10,000 so let's ask him to add this or upgrade that. Now it has cost me the true 385,000.00 instead of what we had planned to stay on budget with. It like working all year and getting a tax refund and people think they got something free from the government. No, it was their money all along that they overpayed into the system. For a business owner, you will probably get some people to see this as an incentive and fall for the deal. Look at how many are overjoyed to get "free" money back from the government. I may have misunderstood your idea, but this is what came to mind.

Good luck,
CB
