Who Wants To Split A Box Of Nails?

I am thinking of ordering shingle nails in bulk. 1 1/4" coil roofing nails. I can get them for as little as $9 a box plus shipping. The cost at home depot is $25 on average.

Wow Grumpy what's the catch? I have to order 1152 boxes, minimum order, to take advantage of this more than half price deal. That's at very least 2 years supply for me, but more realistically about 4 years.

Anyone around my area want to split 24 pallets of roofing nails?

Hey Grump if it helps you out I'll take a box off your hands. I'll give ya $12.00 , you handle shipping. Seriously that sounds like a real good deal, hope you find someone to take advantage of the deal with you. SO when can I expect my box?

Shipping on pallets of nails has got to be sky-high.

Aaron, it's the same shipping that our suppliers would pay. Basically it's buying from the same source our suppliers buy from. It doesn't come UPS it comes by semi truck. I'm going to find out all the details including shipping if anyone's interested.

Grumpy have you ever considered down the road to go wholesale too? I know of a young aggressive roofing company out here that does things a bit differently, they not only do roofing, but they have what they call a consumer show room where they display little roofs with all different products, they advertise on talk radio stations as a helper to the consumer where people can go look at the roofing options all in one place where friendly company representatives will show them all their options and choices and explain all about roofing to them.

Of course they also use the opportunity to sell the installation. And what reminded me of this is they stock roofing products in bulk. They've got a pretty good triple threat going.

1) The consumers go there with their guard down looking for info and give this company a free shot at them to sell them the whole enchilada.
2) They buy in bulk so they get all their materials cheaper than anybody else.
3) They sell supplies to other roofers as well.

Good call Mike, that thought crossed my mind as well. If nothing less, selling the nails off to other roofers and double your investment.

Re: Who Wants To Split A Box Of Nails?

I'll let ya guys know as soon as I find out. I am waiting for the samples they sent me before I persue this further.

The funny thing is today I get a call from a local fastener company in medinah IL offering me a great deal on a pallet of nails. Only $25 a box and I get a free nail gun! He claimed that it was $5 a box less than ABC. I told him I can go to home depot for $23 or my supplier for $25. I also told him ABC is giving away free guns also, but I don't think you have to buy a whole skid.

Not to mention I am trying to sell my nails guns because I disolved my crew and went back to the sub only model.

Mike Yes I have considered it and I think it is something on my long term list of things to do... first is a contractor equipment rental. Obviously it's going to take alot of money to get setup, with the majority going to land ownership where I can setup my shop(s). I don't want to rent anymore.

It's a good idea. In the gold rush, who got rich, the guys digging, or the companies who sold them shovels and supplies?

Re: Who Wants To Split A Box Of Nails?

Grumpy, figure out what the price is for shipping and find out if the pallet(s) can be shipped to another location for the orginal shipping price.

If the price is right a road trip may be in order to secure some nails.

Find out what brand they are too.

This is a great call mike, actually planning on doing it in a few, all it takes is money and having the right people and neither of those are easy.. But i really like the idea of controlling my own wharehouse, i know someone who does it and he laid out a big nut for it , is it worth it? only time will tell..
