Venting A Dormer?

I am currently bidding on a small 10x10 addition (laundry room) ... Normaly I would have my roofers do the roof, but I figure I wont waste my roofers time with this small job..

The addition is going to be 10x10 single story attached to a 2 story bullding. it will have a 4/12 pitch shed roof that attaches to the main part of the house.. do I need to vent the roof? since it is a shed roof, how do I vent if needed? since there isnt a ridge, I cant use ridge vent.. box vent?
here is a poor sketch in powerpoint.. first is the top view, second is the front view..

thanks

Yup, vent it the same as anything else. Soffit vents and a box vent on the roof. Just make sure rain doesn't hit the vent from the roof above with that long fall if possible.

Re: Venting A Dormer?

Hello,

You can also use wall vent where the roof line meets the siding. Leave the plywood 1 and 1/2 to 2" down from the wall transition. We generally use the 4 foot pieces of ridge vent cut in half and butt them against the wall. Make sure that you cut the siding out enough so your roof to wall metal can go over the vent and slide behind the siding.

This method will elliminate any chance of water dripping on a box vent.

Hope this helps.

As RoofBoy said, make sure you fabricate some roof to wall sheet matal apron flashing to cover the entire Smart Vent designed for the shed roof application.
