Varmint Control...

This past winter a family of squirrels took up residence in the rafters, gaining entry through holes they had chewed in the roofline. Had a varmint control outfit come get them out. Now I want to get the roofline sealed up and repaired. The outfit that removed the squirrels said there is some kind of edging that roofers install that prevents this from happening. Anybody know what this edging is called and if this is the best way to go about this?

Thanks!

A picture would be nice to see exactly what you are talking about. Style D roof edge is what I use. Get the whole covered up with metal somehow.

Re: Varmint Control...

Sorry I don't have a picture but it's a two-story old victorian farmhouse w/gabled roof so it's a pretty steep pitch, w/a fascia board butting into the roof sheeting. The squirrels dig in between the fascia and sheeting and leave little golf ball sized holes.

Just googled the info from your post ("style D roof edge") and so I see this kind of edging appears to be readily available. Is it standard procedure to install an edge like this when a roofer puts on a new asphalt-shingle roof?
