Suggestions On How To Market Myself?
I'm in Florida, travel all over the state, solicit, sell, oversee crews, etc.
Most of what I do is new construction and public bid work, multi-family housing, shopping centers, municipalities etc. I deal with jobs from simple repairs up to million dollar multi-family housing projects. My company regularly has more work coming in than the owner wants to deal with. The company is as big as the owner wants it to be and he isn't going to hire more crews. I am losing jobs and customers because I have to tell the customer we are too backed up to take on any more work. I am paid based on my sales so when I have to turn down good jobs it really stings. I am trying to come up with a way to offer my abilities to companies that need leads/sales, someone to attend pre-bids, visit job sites, visit customers etc. Basically, be a representative on a as-needed, day-rate/commission basis. I was thinking this could work for smaller companies in Florida that were trying to expand but didn't want to hire someone on a full-time basis or help a larger company that covered multiple states but didn't have officies or need a full-time employee in my area. Would contractors hire someone on a commission/day-rate/contract basis to act as their representative for them knowing that I was also representing other contractors? Is this a bad idea? Should I just try to find a contractor that is hiring full-time or try to sell my leads to a contractor on a straight commission basis? Thanks, roofer4u2hire@yahoo.com |

Good idea. I would be interested in a program like this but I am not in your area. Let us know how it works for you.

Re: Suggestions On How To Market Myself?
I wouldn't ever hire an independant sales person to represent me. Reason being you have no loyalty to my company. I would however hire someone like you to respresent my company full time. Pay would be strictly commission and I'd take all the profitable work you could provide.
BUT I am not in FL. Last edited by Grumpy; 12-06-2006 at 09:13 AM. |
