Step Flashing
I have aluminum step flashing that doesn't look very good against the red brick and black roof. I am curious for suggestions in a black flashing or some kind of over protection that would add to the waterproofing abilities and look better than what I currently have. I would highly prefer something in black and would like to go overtop of what flashing is already in place. This is flashing against a gable.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. |

Re: Step Flashing
I can get painted galvanised steel step from my roofing supplier, have you asked around? You shouldn't have to see the step against the roof, just the wall, which should be counter flashed. You could go over it, or replace it.

Re: Step Flashing
Use black aluminum baby tin step flashings on the actual sides and then black counter-flashings and apron flashings on the lower side and pan/saddle/cricket flashings and counter flashings on the top side.
Prior to installing any "aluminum flashings against a masonry surface, you should install a bituthane membrane against the masonry, firstly for additional weather-tight protection and secondly, to prohibit the chemical degradation from mortal/lime to aluminum. Ed |
