Ive used this stuff a few times, it helps if you have the right equipment for the job as in the benders and the gilitine.
You need to get your batten gauge spot on or it will start running out of line, you start at the top of the roof with these and work down!
Go to the decra web site to see how its layed.
Hope this helps in some way.
Cheers
Dave

Re: Steel Shingle With Asphalt?'s

My experience with these tells me I need to be a lot lighter. I don't care what the manufacturer says, they will bend irreparibly under foot, so be very careful.

We have used them in lieu of shingles at an eave which was too close for another building, for firecode, then shingled up beyond and above. getting a seal between asphalt shingles and decra tiles aint easy I can tell you that.

Personally I think it's a lot of money to pay for something with granules on it.

Leak repair is a bloody nightmare, and a poor installation is not simply repaired!

I would say fully know what you are getting into before buying this item, if you are the average hack and slash roofer putting these on, you are going to be in a lot of trouble.

Decra, Metro Tile, Alcoa, and the like are definitely not products desinged for roofs with any type of foot traffic. The previous posters are right in the fact that this is not a system just to 'give a try' as they are very finicky and incorrect installation is virtually impossible to rectify. Leak repair is a complete nightmare as well. Overall, I think they are a BS product for the money.

Pain in the a$$ to install, and unless you have some metal roofing experience, stay away from them. Who ever designed these things was on crack - it has the most ridiculous flashing accessories I've seen. There are much better metal roofing systems out there. The above is not just about Decra, it also includes Gerard, Metro-Tile, All-Met, and similar stone-coated steel roofs.

They do look great, but if you still want to try these out, get a LOT of money for them.
