Steel Roof Venting

How do you guys deal with venting a steel roof? Residential reroof from asphalt shingles. Cut a slot along the ridge, staple bug screen, strap, steel, ridge and foam strips on windward side? I know there's a manufactured product out there, but I was quoted $600 for a fifty foot piece.

Re: Steel Roof Venting

I've seen vented foam closures, but what keeps the rain/snow/etc out?

26 gauge, painted, galvanised steel on a simple gable structure, 4/12 pitch, one steel chimney, one stack, one skylight. Rich.

Re: Steel Roof Venting

it is either standing seam , ribbed exposed fasten panels, spanish tile type or some kind of shingle. You gave only the type of metal and not the profile.
The manufacturer should have instructions to be used for their system.

Re: Steel Roof Venting

I'd guess he's talking about ribbed material with exposed fasteners.

Re: Steel Roof Venting

Doesn't matter what profile it is, Multivent by Sealtite for exposed fasteners or Univent by MWI for standing seam. Sealtite has the best price cuz you can get it direct from them, we get Univent from our dealer thru Direct Metals. It costs us $600 to vent and seal the avg. roof. That is if you use universal hip sealing foam too, most of my competitors don't bother.
