Ludowici will send you a manual that is very helpful but yes you do have to snap vertical and horizontal lines so your locks all line up. I find using "Bulldog Red slaters cement" a lot easier on hips and vallys than colored mortor, for field repairs use the flat bar renail trick as opposed to using those foolish and unsightly clips.

Yes on the lines.

Don't use ring shank copper nails.

Jim, have you tried the Flexim mortar? I have not, as I always mix my own, but I was wondering how it worked.

I use a flat bar for the field also. Take a minute or two to find the old nail hole.

Wet saw on the ground. 5" Bosch for roof details.

I don't do a " lot " of tile. Small jobs and repairs.

Thanks- For repairs I use the flatbar also to renail(no tabs)--I will send for a manual -- could someone explain procedure for cementing ridges , valleys & hips with mortar & roof cement, seems mortar is the preference in Fla..I will be working in Jacksonville over the winter..--I am in the pittsburgh area most tile roofs here have closures at the ridges,,, valleys are either factory made or open on the spainish tile(most all tile here is Ludowici(spelling?) -have used red roof cement on the hip pcs.where they fit up to the nailer--I have also installed several flat & spainish tile roofs over the years mostly lift and relay after installing new underlayment...just looking for some good tips from guys who do alot of tile.

ron, lots of new stuff recently. I'm not a roofer but you had better look into it.
