Don't believe in ridge vents an only 3 nails per shingle lol wow.

Some roofers use 4 nails but 3 is also fine.

Keep in mind, the instructions on the the shingle wrapper. If the shingles aren't installed per mfg. specifications, there is no warranty.

Can you show me where a mfg. recommends 3 nails per shingle?

I would always expect 4-6 nails per shingle! Will three hold? I know some people use three, but I always figured that was in countries with next to no adverse weather.

Can't believe they don't use ridge vents, either... That roof is going to be falling apart in a couple of years, if not before. Might as well take the time to do it properly from the get-go... I see costly repairs in the near future.
