Shingle Matching...

Hey Guys,

Lost some shingles in a windstorm today. About 4 square.

Code on the shingle tape is PX A41405.

I think it is an IKO.

Anyone have a way to track down the colour?

Thanks

Re: Shingle Matching...

you lost 4 squares? why worry about matching them when insurance will buy you a new roof?

Re: Shingle Matching...

This was on a Friday evening. Needed to get it shingled on the Saturday as we had lot of rain coming on the Sunday.

No supply houses open, just Lowes and the Depot.

Got a fairly decent match, not great.

Didn't go through insurance as my deductible is $1000 and all in I was under $500 in materials. Roof is only 8 years old.

Re: Shingle Matching...

they would pay for that damage too but I get cha. and theres always the emergency tarp charge too. 8 years old? where do you live? its about time for a new roof anyway. Most of them that say 30 years really last about 10 barring no hail or high wind destroys them before then. 8 if you live in Texas where our winters get down to a whopping 75 degrees and thats just for a one day a year

Re: Shingle Matching...

Ontario, Canada, so different rules.

A few of my neighbours went through insurance. Spent 3-4 hours on hold waiting to start a claim. I had the roof repaired in 5 hours, including picking up materials and the trip to the dump.

Depending on the pitch, most architectural shingles will last about 20 years.
