Shingle Color Help?

What could this possibly be? This is for a project (2) hours away and the GC has been useless getting me any information. I asked him to pull a shingle off the existing roof and he refuses. We use a lot of GAF and Tamko in this part of the country. The existing roof has been installed 8+ years ago.

Owens Corning Aged Cedar?
Landmark Heather Blend?
GAF Timberline Shakewood?

Looks like you're gonna have to go there or tell the guy he does or finds another roofer

Re: Shingle Color Help?

This seems crazy to me. If the GC doesn't want to specify a shingle for what you are doing then just give him whatever you want. If he knows what he wants then it is up to him to tell you what the shingle manufacturer and model are.

Re: Shingle Color Help?

After the contractor paid one of our guys to drive the 2 hours to look at the roof, we have confirmed it was Tamko Heritage Rustic Hickory. It took less then 1 minute to take a shingle lose and confirm it was a Tamko product. Blows my mind how inconsiderate people are.

Well at least he paid the freight for your guy to go do it... hope you charged him at least half-day...

Re: Shingle Color Help?

Sometimes contractors are primadonnas and just want to be able to boss a sub around even when it doesn't make sense. You just need to make sure that your bill your roofing guys out for stuff like this at a good margin.
