Except the saws will be constantly gumming up and blades won't last long. Talk to your local fire station about the chainsaw.
For that job you'll find the easiest way is strong crew with spud shovels, tear it off full sheets at a time. If you need it smaller after that, flip it over and just cut the sheeting from the bottom side. Will save you in many ways in the long run.

Re: Saws For Deck Replacement

Shoot, by the time you attempt to cut through both shingles and decking, on a job that size, you could have the shingles off with a shovel, and the plywood pryed up, all debris loaded in the truck or whatever, before you even got started cutting with a circular saw, sometimes we just need to do the manual part, and in my opinion this is one of those. Maybe if you were just cutting off and eave or installing a skylight, but not a whole roof, Not this kid anyway.

Re: Saws For Deck Replacement

They sell demo blades for the large circular saws they use to cut concrete.

I recently used one to cut though a plywood deck with about 4" of torch down and shingles on it. It would bog down after cutting though about 4-5 feet but made quick work of it.

Re: Saws For Deck Replacement

yes those saws are pricey.I'm just always looking for a better way to do things but it looks like the old reliable of tearing up the plywood with the shingles on and then ripping them dowwn to go down chute.Done it many times just not on a job this size and not to go down a chute.I really wish plywood would land were you want it too but thanx guys
