they are crap guns, period. Only reason you bought them is because they were cheaper right??
When it comes to ones livelyhood cheaper is rarely better.
Only two guns worth a damn IMO are Max and Hitatchi

I don't have a roofer, but all of mine
are PC...no problems for me.
I have a buddy who had nothing
but grief with his...he cranks
the pressure up too high, and only
oils them occasionally though.
How do your guys treat tools?

The plunger in the back cap is getting stuck. Try tapping on the back with a hammer or remove the back plate a slam it plunger side down on a hard surface to get it unstuck. Those guns do suck, the older PC were of a better standard.

My PC is almost 10 years old it does that every couple roofs a little oil fixes it. If the workers would just oil it daily I think it would be fine.

I've had three PC's over the years, the 175's are the best, hit hard on a little air and work great. Alas, their old and the barrel is shot out of them, I bought a 175A and it lasted six months, the "O" ring is not an "O" ring, its a plastic ring and doesn't last very long, The older 175's wear out and they are done, period.
On yours it sounds like the feeder pawl is in need of an "O" ring, thats the one that wears out most in the 175's.

I just got three of the same guns. Im not having that problem, but, iam having a problem with the depth adjuster. sometimes the things will blast through the shingle and the next nail will stick up 1/8''. so im constantly hammering and double shooting. the other guys are right we bought them cuz they were cheap and now we're paying!

the only real problem is that you did not by a real roofing gun. Make sure you go to the mens department when you by roofing tools. "Hitachi".

Yes this is the #1 cause of gun failure...
But make damn sure your gun is not OIL-LESS ie... Many of the newer finish guns.
I am not real sure if they make a oil-less framer
I know that you cant put enough oil in a framer/roofer guns...only issue with exessive oiling in alot of discharge on your work and oil will break down the tar that is in composite roofing, other than that blowiong out the tool of crud and doing a monthly tool inspection, Nothing is worse than having to roll-up for the day when the tools dont work

Nothing but Max here for years. I think Hitachi is a close second. Max just came out with a new model, it looks like a cheap POS. I've used and abused my 450's for years, indestructible and parts are inexpensive to rebuild.
