Roofing Charge.....Pls

I'm about to split from my family roofing and siding buss. I lived in Mass. I got some question here. When you guy charge for the roofing price.

1. For Asphalt roofing, did you also include the labor to place the roof cap in price or not? Or you charge seperately in both case of with and without roof vent.

2. And how about Red Cedar?

Thanks
Jim S.

The answer is "three" and if that doesn't sound right, try "C" instead.

when you say roof cap do you mean a ridge vent. If yes then yes you would include that in the price. Thats labor intensive. Now concerning red cedar i'm lost on that unless you mean doing a wood shingle roof. The guys above make a good point stick with your family until you understand pricing. Example price per square which wouldn't include installing a ridgevent.

Re: Roofing Charge.....Pls

I might not have understood you question so let me explain how a roofer bids a job. Every roofer has a price per square. This is basic price for a simple roof. Meaning standard 30 year shingle 1 layer tear off and new felt. Anything other then this would be a add on. Example you want to go with 6 feet grace ice and water thats a addon. You want to go with synthetic underlayment thats a addon. You want to go with a ridgevent thats a addon. You need new flashing thats a addon. Depending on what shingle you wish to go with his price per square may change a few bucks. Example tamko 30 ar that would be one price per square. Certainteed landmard might be a few bucks more per square. A 40 year shingle would be a few bucks more. Now concerning a wood shingle roof. I have no ideal because those are very labor intensive so its logical to assume it would be bid time and materials plus disposal cost.

The total sum of charges for replacing a roof is that which one can charge and consistently pay all outstanding bills including the payroll of the labor force while still maintaining an ever growing bank account for ones business to expand on.
