Roof Sagging Wall Pushed Out

hi everyone!

I am in the process of buying a house. Inspection revealed the roof was sagging and had pushed the wall out a little bit. I got a structural engineer to take a look at. He told me that rafters are slipping out around birdsmouths leading to sagging of the roof and outward movent of the wall. according to him use of small sized rafter caused this

He suggested to put a knee wall under the rafters and replace current thick shingles with one layer shingles. He said doing this would slow the outward push. The roof and the wall on the other side are ok. There is a partial brick wall on the other side.

What do you guys think ? are there any other options.

Re: Roof Sagging Wall Pushed Out

In my house we had this problem, the living and dinning room walls were pushing out and the rafters were 2x6's, I removed the ceiling joists and we put in a 23' 2x6 LVL Beam and carried all of the roof and raised the ridge of the roof bring the walls in plumb, after we removed the partions and opened the living room and dinning room to 18'x22' with 12' cathedral ceiling.
