Question

Roof Ratings

I was just checking the latest consumer reports. Here are the ratings for roofing materials. I am wondering if you all could comment based on your experience.

Listed based on the rank. The letter in the square brackets indicate ratings for Strength, Wind, Weathering and Impact.
E is excellent, VG very good, G good, F Fair, P Poor.

They rated 18. I typed as much as I could. If anyone is interested, I will fill in the missing ones.
1. Owens corning berkshire collection (recommended) (E,G, E, E)
2. Certainteed grand manor (recommended) (E, G, VG, E)
3. IKO crowne slate (E, F, E, E)
4. certain teed presidential shake (VG, G, E, E)
5. GAF-Elk camelot (VG, G, G, VG)
6. Tamko heritage 50 (recommended) (VG, G, E, E)
7. Owens corning oakridge (best buy) (VG, G, VG, VG)
8. Certainteed landmark premium (recommended) (VG, G, VG, VG)
9. certainteed landmark (best buy) (VG, G, VG, E)
....
...
12. GAF-Elk timberline prestique lifetime (G, F, VG, VG)
....
14. Tamko heritage vintage (recommended) (G, E, VG, G)
15. GAF-Elk timerline natural shadow (G, F, G, VG)
....
....
17. Malarkey #273 legacy (G, F, VG, E)
18. Owens COrning Duration premium (G, G, G, VG)

THe ratings are based on testing they have done with regard to strength, wind, weathering, impact, etc. Best Buy, recommended ones take price into consideration. For instances, Owens Corning Berkshire is recommended because it is good, but not a best buy because cost is high.

Any comments?

Re: Roof Ratings

I don't agree with the ratings so much.I would like to see a more detailed comparison with actual test results.

Re: Roof Ratings

That's obviously not an international or national rating,
maybe a west coast rating?
