Ridgevent Vs Attic Fan

here's a question for you guys, somewhat related to a recent question but for an ongoing job I'm on. Assuming proper soffit venting, would continuous ridgevent or an attic fan (likely) provide a lower attic temperature? This particular attic has two small gable vents (about 2sqft each) plus the soffit venting and one electric attic fan, mounted about 15" from the ridge.

I would guess with a good breeze, the existing setup would suffice, but on the days with no real breeze, the attic would be hotter with the fan b/c of hot air pockets at the points furthest from the fan.

Re: Ridgevent Vs Attic Fan

I would think the attic fan would do a better job of circulating the hot air out on those non-breezy days.

IMO I would use ridgevent, then I would block the gable vents.

Re: Ridgevent Vs Attic Fan

there are calculators for venting roofs, i believe it is diferant for diferant climates, don't know about delaware but here in fl. we vent the **** out of it,
The vents in the soffit are sapose to be in vents meaning the air go's up through and out the ridge vents or gable vents or attic fans or what have you
