Replace 4 sheets plywood quote] What type of decking. Plywood or plank board 1" x 6"? Are they 4 or six nailed or did they use staples? What is the access to the building for debris removal and cleanup? Who supplies the dumpster and where will it be positioned? What type of roof vent? A damper exhaust fan bathroom or kitchen vent? An electrical Powered Attic Ventilator? A Solar Powered Attic Ventilator? What type of chimey? A metal chimney housing? A framed chimney chase? A brick or block or stone chimney? Are you just reworking and recaulking the chimney flashings? Are you measuring, fabricating, delivering and installing new custom fabricated chimney flashings? Is it aluminum, galvanized, or copper? Are you a licensed roofing contractor? If not, do you have additional funds to pay for the fine if you get caught and turned in? Are you responsible for the building/roofing permit? How long are you hanging your neck out for a warranty? How much liability and workmans compensation insurance do you carry? How much profit do you want to earn above and beyond your labor and overhead costs? What if the material order is short? Who pays for the down time? What if it rains when you are in the middle of the tear-off? I would never do or price out a job for labor only. How much can this guy be saving by buying 8 squares of materials on his own instead of gong through you? Or, do you not have enough cash flow or credit established to put 8 squares of cheap 3-tab shingles on an account? Ed |

Re: Quick Question About This Estimate
Ed, Let me start by saying thanks for the reply. The reason I asked about labor only is because I know the materials werent overpriced so I wasnt concerned with this and I didnt realize how I worded it when I wrote the post. This job already had permits, and had another "roofer" or at least thats how they presented themselves come in and attempt this small job but failed miserably. Dumpster is already there with easy access, decking is plywood, exhaust vent, reworking existing aluminum flashing. I bid this proposal the same way I do all jobs, just not use to this small of a job, and for it to be worth the time to do it and make decent profit and cover overhead I may out of the ballpark. And about getting stopped in the middle due to rain, I would really hope that this wouldnt be an issue, this job should take just hours with a few roofers.
