Price On Repair Of Roof
I generally don't do roofing but I used to work for a roofing company so I do know how. The point is that I don't know how to give an estimate for this job. I wouldn't have taken it but he's a friend so I told him I'd take a look at it. I need to know what I could charge just for looking to see what's wrong. I normally don't charge for estimates but this is pretty labor intensive (for me at least) and he knows that I actually have to do some work just to figure it out, I am going to have to remove some siding and who knows what all. I have established that it is not leaking from the apparent spot -- it is running down from somewhere else. Once I know where the problem is, I'll be alright on estimating what to charge but in the meantime
Should I just charge a flat rate based on what I know I need to make per hour or is there a better guideline to go by? |

Re: Price On Repair Of Roof
I would charge $100 for a callout charge, that would include the first hour, after that charge your normal hourly rate I usually would charge $40 an hour per man.Everybodys callout charges are different alot of companys I know of are $250.I guess it all depends on travel time, etc.I try to keep it on the cheaper side, because when it comes time to re-roof,you more than likely will get the job.I hope this answers your question and good luck!

Re: Price On Repair Of Roof
Who knows how many potential leak-spots an old roof done by someone else may have.
When I run into something like this, - - I offer to repair what I can visually see wrong, - - but with no guarantee whatsoever. I can't be marrying someone else's potentially bad or failing work . . . |

Re: Price On Repair Of Roof
Service charge with an hour of repairs, $300-450. Insurance pays $400 for setting up the ladder and making a repair. The big local roofing companies here charge around $425 for a work related simple service charge.
A couple years ago a city in my phone book advertising area got hit with 5 inches of rain in a few hours and got three calls in an hour. Each job took less than an hour and charged $1,200 total. Each home owner said I was the 10'th roofer they called that day. One was so happy he said he put me on his speed dail! Some home owners have a leak or a problem and it's on the top of their priority list and they will pay what it takes to get it fixed ASAP. Other home owners seem to not care that much that a water spot is on the ceiling or shingles are missing of their roof. |
