Painting Vents

What brand of spray paint do you guys use to paint vents, jacks and flashing? I was getting some from my supplier that matched the shingle color but they are out and I need some NOW!

Re: Painting Vents

We buy new vents to match. They cost $2 more than the mill finish vents. We don't reuse vents so no problem there.

The shingle match color crap that the suppliers sell won't last more than a few years.

We replace all flashings so we don't paint the old stuff. However we would reuse a flu style HVAC exhaust pipe. Still we don't paint them.

"Why?" you may be thinking. I give a 10 year guarantee on my roofs. I am not going to go back in 7 years to repaint your stacks. Never had a customer complain once that we didn't paint their stacks. I see some guys doing it, I think it looks good, however I have discovered most of the guys painting stacks are reusing old flashings. Boo Hiss!
